A recommendation for which garmin to buy, would be appreciated.

I hike in the Tantalus mountain areas.

I don't think I need communication, just a good gps.

The Garmin 62s, 64s series are just fine. 

I got the 64s which acquires more satelites. However the 62s,  I find just that the GLONASS and GPS satelites are just fine and last a lot longer in battery life which you can select on the 64s too.

As for emegency comm. I recommend garmin inreach mini. Its a two way comm really handy when things go sideways.
