for those who enjoy climbing seracs at baker, but dont like biking up the road..... go to matier! lovely ice, cold temps becoming more consistent and a mostly "calm" glacier. Head up joffre lakes trail with all of vancouver on their first "wilderness" trip, up by the river, stay left and find your way into the fun zone.

Start your season early!

Have been climbing up there? I was under the impression that the seracs there were a bit on the active side, but I haven't been up there in a very long time.

up last weekend. one very small serac fall over the lip through the night, but nothing else. no noticable rock fall either. Seemed reasonable to me, on that day. far less "wierd noises"
 than baker, and reasonable out of the way access.
