It's June 8th. Now bars, restaurants, parks, playgrounds, beaches, basketball courts, tennis courts, skate-parks, the airport, are ALL OPEN.
the province is going into "phase 3" reopening. Why is Garibaldi Park closed due to Covid-19? Are you kidding me!
The bars and restaurants in Vancouver are full, the beaches are a festival, and everyday planes arrive from China and Europe, yet we can't hike to Garibaldi Lake because of a damned virus!
Congratulations everyone, we've reached a new level of stupidity here in Canada.
Agree totally. I received a communication that said Garibaldi had snow so it was going to stay closed. (Came out of a meeting between FMCBC and BC Parks.)
Well, there is snow year round over there. I've noticed that since I moved here. Not to mention glaciers tend not to disappear every summer. Can they come up with a better argument???
BC Parks Failed Us When We Needed Them The Most:
Shame on BC Parks director Bob Austad for his incompetency and dishonesty, and shame on us all for tolerating it.
Any updates on this, anyone? Is there hope for August?
Day use reservations for Garibaldi parks starts July 27th:
6AM start is not going to do it for me some days. Honestly not sure if I should stick with my 4AM trailhead departure and then make sure to hop on the phone to grab a pass while running, or maybe just like... not get a pass.
Is the permit something you need to put on your car or carry with you? How much is the fine? Do rangers have guns?
Any updates on this, anyone? Is there hope for August?
Excited. Hoping that the site doesn't crash...
