Whistler Blackcomb Backcountry Passes & RFID Gates

Hi All,

For your info, I posed some questions to the WB guest services regarding the Backcountry pass for 2014/2015 and the RFID gates:

Questions:

  • What is the cost of the Backcountry pass this year?
  • Will the backcountry pass be valid for just one upload to access the backcountry (i.e. Gondola - Excelerator - Glacier - Showcase), or can it be used multiple times through the RFID gates? For example, can a backcountry pass holder 'Slackcountry Ski' i.e. do laps outside the resort boundary and re-enter to upload on Seventh Heaven multiple times in one day?

Answer:

Hi Angus,

Thanks for your questions.

The backcountry ticket is $56 + tax. This ticket is good for one ride up only, so unfortunately you won’t be able to “slackcountry” ski.

Kind Regards,

It amazes me that people will regularly pay this.
