My friend and I hiked to Wedgemount hut. It was day trip.
Weather was fantastic.
We started at 11:15am. No cars can make to upper parking spot. Few cars were parked at the bottom (just after turn off from highway. Lower portion of the trail was still frozen and snow was compact. Upper part was softer and we were postholing up to the knees (but not every step). Maybe every 5th - 6th step.
In the hut we met 2 skiers and 2 snowshoers. Skiers were camping in Marmot tent. My friend was chatting with skiers and learned that group of people went to climb Mt. Jugde Howay. BCMC? I knew this was Silke's plan for Easter but she will ski from Mt. Currie?
It will be nice to see this trip report from Peter G.
After quick lunch we headed down.
It was myself and Adrien. We climbed Lesser Wedge and explored Weart glacier. We didn't end up climbing James Turner. We saw 2 groups coming from Currie: one group Explored Oasis-Eureka to Needle glacier, and other group climbed NE arete of Wedge. Beautiful weekend for ski mountaineering
You are right Dean ...
I meant to say James Turner. So far I didn't have a chance to climb it. Arete I climbed 5 times and my friend did it 9-10 times. This is his favourite snow climb.
Never climbed Lesser Wedge but looks awesome. It will be nice to see your line. I remember rock band in the lover portion but maybe it's now under snow.
Post something when you have a moment?
Thanks a lot.
