Hello BCMCers and volunteer trail builders.
David Scanlon today reports that the snow has finally retreated from the initial section of the Watersprite Lake Trail.
This means that work will commence in the next two week (weather permitting) and I will be organizing and posting the trips. On the agenda this year are the following:
Preparing the trail for the masses (potentially over 100 hikers per day).
1) Installation of the large trail Kiosk donated by MFLNRO
2) Installation of a short section of boardwalk only a few hundred meters from the parking area
3) Installation and construction of a bridge across Demon Creek (also only several hundred meters from the parking area)
4) Construction of at least three sets of stairs in the connector trail at the 1.5 KM mark to ensure the long term durability and viability of the trail
5) The unclogging of an old logging road culvert and the re-routing of Demon Creek off of the trail on the S1 Spur at KM 3.5 (ish)
6) Routine removal of downed trees and trim-back of new growth after the winter.
As the initial few trips will be very close to the parking area, this will be great for those of us who have gained some unwanted pounds and lethargy over the winter (like me).
Those who wish more information can contact me. Otherwise, keep an eye out for posted trail building trips on the schedule.
Hi, keep me posted! I'd like to help. Went up once last summer to help one afternoon and would like to help more and get to know the trail better :)

Hi Chris, good to know. Count me in for some action.

Great to hear both of you will be helping out.
I have finalized the design for the boardwalk and the stairs to be installed. They will require the shuttling of materials to and from the vehicles. Not glamorous, but vital...
Hi guys,
I have posted the first trail building trip for June 3rd. Time to get this show on the road! These first couple will be especially fun because we are building structures.
