1 Read, walk, climb, learn the ropes of the trade.

2 Have the right equipment and form a good team.

3 Train gradually , don’t rush it.

4 Respect nature, silence and people.

5 Respect wildlife and keep the hut clean.

6 Don’t overestimate your abilities.

7 Commit yourself without excepting SAR.

8 Descend without hesitation if the weather turns bad.

9 Be helpful, help your friends when they are in distress.

10 Admire, retain the lesson of the mountains.

Hello Oudie,

This is a nice list you posted - thank you for that.  For clarification, In number 7 (Commit yourself without excepting SAR.)  is the word "excepting" meant to be "expecting", or is it referring to the old preposition referencing non-exclusion.  i.e. (Commit yourself keeping in mind the possibility of utilizing SAR if necessary).  Forgive me, I am a bit of a grammar zealot, and my French is pitiful.
