Everyone planning to travel to remote locations in 2017 should consider taking a Wilderness and Remote First Aid training course.  On the weekend of April 8th, a 20hr WRFA course will be taught by Spiritus Training (spiritustraining.com) in Coquitlam at Place Maillardville Friday evening and Mundy Park all day Sat/Sun.

Spiritus Wilderness Medical Training seeks to empower you with the physical and mental tools to grow in skill and confidence. We've been keeping it real and providing more than just a card, since 2001. Programs will engage you and are customized to your realities by matching scenarios to environments. 
Course Includes:
- 3 year, Nationally recognized certification through the Canadian Red Cross. 
- CPR/AED - C certification (with Bag Valve Mask - BVM)

WRFA OUTLINE 2016
Day 1 - (1800-2200) - TOPIC
- Introduction & Course Overview
- Medical-Legal Considerations
- Trip Planning
- Patient Assessment - Primary Survey
- Airway Management
- CPR and AED - C
- Body Systems Review
- Shock
Day 2 - (0900-1800) - TOPIC
- Lifting & Moving Patients
- Patient Assessment - Secondary Survey
- Scenarios and Practice Sessions
- Respiratory Emergencies
- Cardiovascular Emergencies
- Metabolic & Allergic Reactions
- Cold Emergencies
- Wound Management & Infection
- Night Scenario (2200 - 2330) - 1.5 hr long scenario in the dark with actors (if we can get them otherwise we will pull people from the group)
Day 3 - (0900-1800) - TOPIC
- Review
- Scenarios & Practice Sessions
- Head Injuries
- Spinal Injury Management
- Musculoskeletal Injuries
- Abdominal Pain
- Heat Emergencies
- Altitude Illness
- Exam (50 multiple choice) 
Discounted course fee is:  $225.00 (includes tax) 
Registration process: 
1) after you've register online your name will automatically be added to the "Waiting List", which will give you access to the PayPal *Pay Now*button so you can pay the course fee online.  Please do so ASAP, thank you.
2) after your payment has been confirmed by PayPal, the organizer will move your name to the "Confirmed List" and a email will be sent informing you've been confirmed to attend the course.  
 
 
Trip Organizer & Volunteer Instructor Incentive Program
If you've volunteered your time as either:   
a) Trip Organizer with 4 or more outdoor trips in the past 12 months, you may apply for a 25% rebate off the course fee ($56.25), or
b) Course Instructor (primary volunteer organizer) in the past 12 months, you may apply for a 50% refund off the course fee ($112.50).
