Went up to Mt Ossa Sept 7-8. The trail is in GREAT shape with the new bridge replaced last year providing easy crossing of Sigurd Creek. A big Thank You to Paul Kubik and crew for all the work that has gone in building the new bridge, clearing the trail, adding markers, etc.

The trip went smoothly to this beautiful part of the coast mountains. One item of note: there is an underground wasp (hornets?) nest near the North end of the first slide path crossing, a hundred feet or so after a small creek crossing, and a while before arriving at the new bridge on the way in. This first slide path crossing is mentioned in the Mt Ossa trip description of Matt Gunn's scrambling book. They were extremely aggressive and gave us at least a dozen different stings (plus multiples in same spot) on the way in despite running away as fast as we could. We ran through this section of trail (close together) on the way back and limited the damage to 1 sting. Be warned-- you will need to run or you will get swarmed.
