I thought I'd start a thread to discuss project ideas (as suggest be the recent news item https://bcmc.ca/m/news/view/Executive-Seeks-Project-Proposals-from-Members)
Here's a list of the ideas I've been able to pull from the message board and other places:
Clubhouse / cabin / houseboat in Squamish area
Climbing Wall in Vancouver
Watersprite Lake cabin
Pokosha / Sigurd trails (BCMC recently funded a new bridge)
Callaghan backcountry skiing access trails (BCMC currently provided funding for tools and supplies)
Paying volunteer transportation costs (see below)
Personally I would like to see more support for grass roots volunteer based projects. It seems to me that right now these projects have plenty of support for buying tools, equipment and supplies, but volunteers can be hard to come by. If the club were to pay the transportation costs for volunteers who are working on a project I think that would encourage a lot more people to volunteer their time and projects like Paul's Pokosha and Sigurd trails would see a lot more progress. It sucks to have to pay for gas $ in order to volunteer for a day of trail work. It sucks even more as a project organizer and driver to ask people for gas money after they just spent all day working on a project for no pay.
Nevermind there's already a thread for this topic here:
