March 1, 2015 ... Another area I been wanting to explore. We managed to drive up to 520m  of Phacelia FSR with Subaru, but any vehicle with a  high clearance and good tire traction  can get up another 4km  further.  The logging road is in good shape and we encountered the alder tunnel at 7km mark from where we parked our car. 

 

The plan was to do some exploration on the mountains around Battleship Lakes. instead we decided if could get up to Phacelia Mountain then loop back to Battleship Lakes by taking the ridge to Meditation. 

 

We took the South fork of Phacelia Creek to the North side of Meditation Mountain.  We spent the night  on the upper lake, North of Meditation, then climbed Phacelia Mountain via East ridge. 

 

After some discussion on the route, we aborted our plan of dropping  to Battleship Lakes, fearing we would get  ourselves on steep descent on the South side of Meditation Mountain. 

 

We continued our traverse to the North of Phacelia  towards Brimstone Mountain, then skied down to the valley bottom of Phacelia Creek. 

 

Skiing was challenging as it gets icy in some places.
