Went for an easy ski with Astrid and our dog... snow conditions were poor with either sunbaked snow crust and/or tree bombs that had frozen so skiing was not easy. Great to get out of the fog though! Beautiful blue bird of a day! You'll have to hunt around for good snow this weekend...

Were you on any north-facing slopes?

How steep is the terrain once you get past the end of the road?  I'm looking for destinations where we can take our 1 year old son in a chariot ski sled.  So far Red Heather, Fat Dog and Ottomite mountain are about the only places that I think would work.  Any slope you can ski straight down (i.e. snowplow) is fine but it doesn't go across the fall line very well and sidehills are a a definite no go.

Francis, what is the snow depth at Allison Pass? I suspect north-facing slopes should still be well preserved.

I've had some experience skiing with sleds. I think Mount Alpen would work, at least to the snowmobile hut. You could still make it a bit higher and maybe all the way to the summit bowl.
