FLOOD WARNING IN EFFECT

Lillooet River FSR CLOSED due to debris slides at multiple locations

  • The Road Users will be on site to assess the status of the FSR when it is safe to do so.  Repairs and maintenance to be determined.
  • Date of re-opening unknown at this moment in time.

GENERAL NOTE:  It has now been raining for a long period and the more it will continue to rain in the season the more landslides may occur. We ask everyone on sites and traveling along the FSR to be aware and pay attention to any change in the river flow as a sudden drop in the river flow may be an indication of an upcoming debris flow caused by a landslide higher in elevation causing a natural dam that would breach at a later time.

EMERGENCY MESSAGE from Squamish-Lillooet Regional District

Increased heavy rainfall and snowmelt into river systems in the Pemberton Valley have resulted in rapidly rising water levels. Over land flooding has been observed by patrols at the Ryan River bridge. A Flood Watch is being issued for the Pemberton Meadows area. A Flood Watch means that river levels are rising and may exceed bankfull. Flooding of areas close to affected rivers may occur. At this time, all residents in the affected area should exercise extreme caution near waterways. Consider delaying non-essential travel. If driving, slow down, and be prepared for washouts and road closures. The SLRD is actively monitoring river conditions with the Pemberton Valley Diking District and will issue further updates.

Be Safe!
