Ice Climbing Club Trip around Liloett - Jan.11-12
5 BCMC'ers -Bala, David, Jana, Pavel and Werner/Organizer- were on an ice climbing club trip around Lilloett on Jan, 11,12. - 'Met at 6am at the Church, had a coffee at Starbucks/Squamish and arrived at the Rambles at 10.30am. - We were the ONLY CAR at the parking space. Everybody stayed home - thought of the bad and warm weather! - We top roped the whole day - 2 ropes at Rambles Center 1st pitch (WI3+) on good ice!
'Staid in Lilloett at the Retasket Lodge - 5 persons in one room for $105 -including breakfast! We 'dryed out', went for dinner to the Reynolds Hotel. Met other ice climbers from Vancouver Island. They showed us amazing pictures from their local ice routes around Mt. Arrowsmith / WI3-4 , multi pitch and 30-50 m each pitch! 'Looked very good - well worth checking out!
On Sunday we climbed at Marble Canyon - which was busy (but we were first) and offered a lot of ice! - Met William from the BCMC there- dry tooling and ice climbing hard routes. - TR'd Deeping Wall WI5 and Icy BC 1st Pitch. (2nd pitch and 3rd pitch is in 'moderate' condition/some open holes - but climbable) - Left Marble at 4pm - had dinner in Pemberton -The Wood Restaurant- and arrived back at the church around 10.30pm.
Saturday - Rambles Center,WI 3+, top roping with 2 ropes
Drying out at the Retasket Lodge/Liloett. Big Rooms, 5 people, $105 incl. BF!!
