Hi everyone,
Does anyone know if a traverse from Golden ears over to Alouette mountain and down to Mike lake has been done in the winter before? Or been done the opposite direction? I have found some trip reports for the summer but nothing for winter. Also any thoughts or insights into this route would be great!
Thanks!
Hi Tye,
In the 1990's I led a successful club trip ascent of the Blanchard Needle.
Yes, the traverse from Golden Ears to Alouette Mountain has been done before, although spring seems to be the favourable time. I have looked at the route and thought about doing it from on top of the Blanchard Needle and on top of the Golden Ears, but never got around to it. In Winter avalanche hazard from the three peaks above would be a serious concern depending on the conditions. I remember seeing bootprints in the snow on the route of that traverse while on one of my trips.
Hope this is of some use.
Chris
