Cottonwood, Rohr, and Joffre - Ski Trip

I went yo-yo skiing at Joffre shoulder on Saturday and Sunday. There was a good coverage of snow to travel on the creek all the way up to the moraine. Nice blower snow on Saturday but Sunday was a write off. It was very windy and heavy snow. Some 10-15 cm weak layer on the NE aspect , causing slab releases.

I skied Mount Rorh in whiteout on Monday. Creek and boulders were well covered. Wind swept snow crust on the summit.

I ski toured Blowdown-North Cottonwood divide on Tuesday/Wed.  I wanted to traverse from Blowdown and exit to Gott/Boulder. This area would have been really great for touring  if it wasn't for sledders. The ridges that led to North Cottonwood/Gott drainage had been barricaded with huge cornice. I settled to ski Cottonwood peak instead and re-traced my route back to the car.DSCN1540kghg.jpg
