The BCMC Trip List is the heart of the club, it requires members to sign up as Trip Organizers, and coordinators to encourage blank spots to be filled. Some of the many coordinator roles possible are listed below:

  • Ski Trips Coordinator: Not the best year so far, but the snow is bound to arrive anytime soon. Help get our trip list chock-full with ski trips by encouraging both existing and new trip organizers to list some trips.
  • Snowshoe Trips Coordinator: We have a growing number of members interested in snowshoeing. Help get our trip list chock-full with snowshoeing trips by encouraging both existing and new trip organizers to list some trips.
  • Rock Climbing Trips Coordinator: We are blessed with Squamish in our backyard, so help get our trip list chock-full with rock climbing trips by encouraging both existing and new trip organizers to list some trips.
  • Scrambling Trips Coordinator: Many members love to go out scrambling… so help get our trip list chock-full with scrambling trips by encouraging both existing and new trip organizers to list some trips.
  • Hiking Trips Coordinator: short hikes, grouse grind, exploratory hikes, long traverses. BC Has it all! Help get our trip list chock-full with hiking trips by encouraging both existing and new trip organizers to list some trips.
  • Gym Climbing Coordinator: Regular training is part of becoming a stronger climber. Make it fun by making it more social. Help get our trip list chock-full with gym climbing trips by encouraging both existing and new trip organizers to list some trips.

Pending Trip Reviewer: Help vet proposed trips by reviewed trip organizers to ensure that they are appropriate for the club as well as the organizer's background. This role is 100% online, but requires experience and good wisdom to help ensure that club trips represent the club well.

There is currently a proposal under consideration by the executive which would modify the trip organizer criteria to essentially make everyone in the club a reviewed trip organizer, where trips are reviewed by a member of the Climbing Committee before being approved.

The Climbing committee has functioned in many ways over the years, from using call lists and doing a twice annual drive for trips, to a virtual committee which emailed members. There is also an open position in the executive to take on the Climbing Chair role to help manage and recruit volunteers for these roles. An additional requirement for an executive position is a commitment to attend executive meetings in Vancouver on the first Tuesday evening of each month.

If you're interested in any of the positions highlighted, please reply to this post, contact Francis St Pierre or talk to any member of the executive.
