Hey Werner, I just checked and I don't have access to the Petzl brand on promotive.com. Do you know if there's anything I have to do to my account. I'm already part of the BCMC "team".

You  find PETZL in row 11 (on my computer), a blue sign/ not so visible, next to SCARPA -  MILLET - OUTDOOR TECH - POWER BAR. They all offer mostly 40% Discount to BCMC'ers. For PETZL you must have a shipping address in USA: Like a Parcel Service in Blaine or in Pt. Roberts. You can change back and forth your shipping address anytime from your computer.

Yeah, It's not showing up there for me yet. It could be the website is just taking time to update or something. If I don't see it by tomorrow, I'll try sending them an email. Hopefully this bug isn't affecting other users.

FYI, I am able to see Petzl under my account.

Thanks for this addition Werner!

Probably good stuff, but search for "Petzl" at this page http://www.promotive.com/action/user/home, button My Pro-Deals, gives me this:  "..There are not any brands that meet your sort criteria please clear or adjust your sort."  However, I can find it under "All 397 Brands" which says : "You don't have access to Petzl"

On a side note I would suggest (and have kept suggesting) simpler and more transparent forms of motivation such as MEC gift cards (it used to be in effect some time ago actually), or waving membership fee for a year. The better word for "motivation" has to be rather "compensation": once I was approached by BCMC representative to conduct an alpine course for beginners, but naturally the question was who will cover minimal tangible expenses like gas and transportation? The answer was "not the club", so sadly but logically, the training didn't take place. Obviously club won't go broke if it covers such basic things, after all it charges participatants training fee.

Hi Serguei: Thank you for the info. I checked it out myself today - but could not see PETZL anymore either. I don't know what happened.(?) I will contact promotive-Petzl after the weekend. I'll keep you posted. ----Werner/BCMC - Promotive Team Leader.

Commenting on your side note - as a 'none executive' but a big supporter of trip organizer- and course leader recognition:----I am not a big supporter of rewarding/compensating club volunteers in money/MEC Gift certificates. In my view blunt money compensation will kill and complicate in the long term the general idea of Volunteerism. ---But check out our Policy Manual, 23.1 and 2. The BCMC offers frequent trip organizers (4 trips/12 months) and course leaders very interesting discounts on Courses - and general Mountain Education - be it on BCMC Courses or courses at other outfits. It just was not better communicated to members yet  due to a lack of volunteer time available. Go to:Club Information - Club Business - Policy Manual. In addition to this I would definitely support your idea to give our most active 5 ? annual TO's & Course leaders a free 1 year membership (excluding myself) - This is a thing for our executive group to decide...hint...hint.. Cool  --------Ciao - Werner

These are good ideas on potentially attracting new course leaders/ trip leaders.

Sergeui:  I will get in touch with you by email about some other possible ideas to attract trip/ course leaders.

Cheers,

Rob

Yes Werner, protocols and rules exist for reasons, whatever they are. Just remember that those who are willing to volunteer may have a lot of passion but not have deep pockets, they can "only" donate their time and share experience. Such is life, any act of altruism has its natural limiting capacity, unless it's unconditional love, no?

PETZL AT 40% DISCOUNT IS *BACK * ON OUR "promotive" - PRO DISCOUNT page...'must have been a technical/ organisational glitch.---- Werner---

My suggestion: In the future, maybe better if anyone misses or has a problem with a brand - email me directly....there is always something changing with 326 brands...otherwise we will just fill up the forum :-)))) - no worries....

Is Petzl one of those ones that you have to put your address in as Washington state? That might be why it wasn't showing up.
