AST-1 is recommended for skiers, snowshoers and boarders wanting to learn to avoid avalanches, travel safely in the backcountry, and build their arsenal of mountain knowledge. There are no prerequisites for this course, except competency on your skis/snowshoes/snowboard. The next BCMC group-discounted AST-1 course will be delivered on Saturday March 5th and Sunday March 6th (16 hours total). The course is run by the Canada West Mountain School. Note this is a special price for BCMC Members and the regular CWMS fee is: $235 + GST. The location for the course will be at Mount Seymour. In the event there is not an adequate amount of snow there, then the course will be moved to Whistler where each participant may be required to have a Backcountry Access Pass.
UPDATE: as of 12-Feb-2016 @1pm there are 14 confirmed and 8 on the waiting list (need to pay online)... with a maximum space for 24 participants. The "Confirmed" list order is based on *when* members *pay* their course fee.
