Hi there,

I am curious to know if anyone has been up to the Duffy for a tour at all recently. The reports state only 60cm at treeline, which is not a lot. We're wondering if anyone has been into Keith's Hut?

Would love the beta,

Cheers and Happy New Year!

Haven't skied there myself but drove to the Rambles to ice climb on Dec 21 (20-30 min past Duffy Lake) and there was basically no snow there. I recently got a message from member John Duffy about Steep Creek that said:

"I was in Steep Creek Dec 26-28.  There was 4 feet of snow in the alpine and lots of rocks above and just under the surface, which made for dangerous skiing conditions."

Heads-up if you head in there after the area finally gets a good dump of snow... with the really cold weather of early Dec and the thin snowpack, I would expect some deep instability in the snowpack. I saw a similar message in a recent MCR from ACMG Ski Guide David Sarkany about the Spearhead area.

Thanks Francis!

We were hoping to ski into Keith's hut on the 2nd, but the avi conditions look horrible that day, so we might delay. Was looking for an easy access cabin to take some beginner skier types. Elphin is a back-up, but I hear it's pretty bad there. We shall see...

If anyone else has been into Keith's hut or knows someone who has, I'd love to know how the trail in was. I've checked all the various trip report places and don't see any recent posts.

Happy New Year!
