Alaska hiking / backcountry ideas

My wife and I would like to visit Alaska this summer and see some of the backcountry, I thought I’d ask here for some advice and ideas.

Have you done an excellent hike there? Is it best to stay near Anchorage, or go out to Denali or Fairbanks?

It would probably be for a week or two, driving from Anchorage, car-camping and wilderness camping for a few days at a time. We’d like to stay a bit off the beaten track.

Any insight from people who've been exploring there would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Thomas

check out hatchers pass near anchorage, sweet acc hut there. good ice climbing on the matanuska glacier, and the kenai peninsula is nice with huts and alpine trails.
