The 2015 BCMC Photo Contest is now open for entries.  There are four categories this year: 1) Backcountry Skiing, 2) Mountaineering, 3) Rock & Ice Climbing, and 4) Hiking & Snowshoeing.  The prize for the first place winner in each of the four contests is a $25 MEC Gift Certificate.  Entry into each contest requires that you be a BCMC Member  (no Guests) and is relatively easy... just log into the bcmc.ca website and visit https://bcmc.ca/m/photocontest/home/ then select which of the four contest(s) you'd like to enter your photo(s).  You may enter one photo per contest and are allowed to vote for any of the photos in any of the contests... but only once per photo.  If you have any questions or suggestions, please email me at webmaster@bcmc.ca to open a discussion.  I'm available for help and open to discussing ways to improve next year's Photo Contests.

Hi Paul,

I am interested in submitting photos for the contest, as I have a few good ones, but it says only 19+ year olds are permitted to join. Is this a firm rule, or would it be possible for a 17 year old (i.e. me) to submit a photo? If it really is only 19+, I am curious to know the rationale behind the age distinction.

The rules were set at the beginning of the 2015 Photo Contest to only allow adult members to enter.  At this point in time, with less than a month remaining in the contest, I will not change the rules.  That said, I do plan to set up another BCMC Photo Contest in 2016, this time with a slightly different format, and will look into the possibility of allowing Youth Members to submit their photos.  I imagine that if there are no "legal" issues to deal with then it'll be allowed.  Paul :-)

A few more photos were added recently... please review all the photos and vote for those you like.  You only have one vote per photo but you may vote for all the photos you like.  Once you've voted for a photo you cannot retract that vote.  Please encourage other club members to review the contest photos and vote for their favourites.  Thank you, Paul :-)
