Trip Description

Tantalus Range:

The plan is to fly in on the 19th with Tantalus as the main objective and then to do as many others as possible in the time people have based on their proximity to the Jim Haberl Hut; roughly, Tantalus, Dione, Serratus, Ionia, Pandareus, Red Tusk, Lydia and Alpha.

The intent is to do the 'standard' routes and you can find information regarding the various climbs in Alpine Select by Kevin McLane (Tantalus & Dione), A Guide to Climbing & Hiking... by Bruce Fairly and Matt Gunn's Scambles.

Day 1: Fly in early on the 19th and probably move up higher to camp and to scope out the conditions. Note Tantalus is a long day (approx 16 hours) from the Haberl Hut so I see a big advantage to moving as High as possible.

Day 2: Climb Tantalus and if possible climb Dione on the way up if conditions are really good.

Day 3 + : Discuss other objectives among the group and go from there.

For those who may be interested, I realize that this schedule may not work for everyone but I figure with the flight in and out being quite short and I expect easily arranged people or groups of people can come in and head out on their own schedule.
Please contact me if you are interested in heading into the Tantalus range during this period. I've provided some info below regarding the flight in. They fly in pretty much when they have sufficient people to make it worth while so getting in in no problem so if someone a group comes in but plan to head out earlier or later it is not a problem. With regards to flying out if the weather is bad then they can also land at a point lower down (5000ft) as well and pick up from there.

Minimum prerequisites: Prior successful completion of an alpine route rated "AD" or higher. Glacier travel and crevasse-rescue skills must be dialed in. Potential participants will be screened for appropriate skills, experience and equipment.

IF WE HAVE NOT CLIMBED TOGETHER BEFORE (AND YOU WANT TO RECEIVE A RESPONSE), YOU MUST TELL ME HOW YOU MEET THE TRIP PREREQUISITES.
