Ascent of Mount Matier via its long East Ridge.

Proposed itinerary:

Day One - approach via Cerise Creek and camp/bivy near Keith's Hut.

Day Two - ascend East Ridge to summit, descent via Northeast Face and Anniversary Glaicer, return to camp, hike back to vehicles (N.B. this will be a LONG day).

Alpine Grade: AD (low 5th class). Technical climbing involves expose snow slopes, passing several gendarmes and final steep ice slopes. Descent involves travel across a crevassed glacier.

Minimum prerequisites: Prior successful completion of an alpine route rated "AD" or higher. Glacier travel and crevasse-rescue skills must be dialed in. Potential participants will be screened for appropriate skills, experience and equipment.
