This is a day trip into the Whistler/Blackcomb backcountry. The goal is to ski Phalanx mountain, but the location or date may change due to weather or snow conditions. We will ski in the musical bumps area if visibility is poor.

You will need to buy a backcountry pass from Whistler Blackcomb ($50ish). Backcountry access tickets will only be sold if the avalanche signs are open or if there is a strong likelihood that they will be opened after avalanche control is conducted. Early start to beat the crowds in the ticket line-up.

• Participants must be a competent skier or boarder (Comfortable skiing double black runs at a ski resort)
• Participants must have taken either the AST-1 Course or equivalent avalanche safty course
• Participants must have a Probe, Beacon and Shovel and know how to use them (Also required before a backcountry pass will be issued). 
• Participants must have a reasonably good level of fitness (Phalanx mountain is accessed via a strenuous 45 minute+ bootpack)
