Trip Description

Avalanche Awareness Course for Snowshoers

This course is recommended for people traveling in winter by snowshoe. It will lead to an increased competency in the evaluation of avalanche terrain, snow pack, and weather. There will be a practice session using transceivers. Decision-making, group objectives and new advances in technology, will also be covered. No previous experience is needed.

Date: Saturday December 17th
Cost: $55
Location: North Vancouver (class room in the morning and outdoor in afternoon).
Equipment: Transceiver, shovel and probe (available for rent from MEC),
lunch, snowshoes and suitable warm clothes for a December afternoon on Mount Seymour.
