Trip Description

Climbing Camp at Red Rocks, Nevada, famous for its long, moderate multi-pitch trad routes. It's my favourite rock climbing area as there's so much to climb there: I have a list of over 500 pitches of the most popular climbs at 5.9 and under -- believe it or not, those are just the more popular routes... there are way more pitches than that to climb at the grade.

Here's how the Camp works:

- I plan to drive some time in late September, with possible stops along the way (Smith Rocks, Yosemite, other?). Contact me if you may be interested in joining a road trip down -- my tentative partner has had to cancel.

- Camp participants are responsible for their own transportation to/from Las Vegas and Vancouver. I may be able to help with rides to/from the Las Vegas airport and Red Rocks, but this needs to be pre-arranged (otherwise it's probably wise to rent a car). DATES ARE FLEXIBLE -- YOU DON'T NEED TO STAY FOR THE ENTIRE DURATION OF THE CAMP (some people may just come for a long weekend...)

- Although it should be easy to find someone to climb with from other camp participants, or other climbers at the campground, Camp participants are responsible to find their own partner(s) while at Red Rocks. I will assist by posting a Google Doc by the end of August to help match-up interested people. I will also be looking for partner(s) on some days while at Red Rocks.

- It is strongly recommended that you should have experience climbing multi-pitch trad routes -- at least seconding, and preferably also in leading moderate grades (5.7 or 5.8 alpine grade).

- Required personal gear: harness, shoes, helmet, daisy chain, belay device and some biners. You should also bring some gear such as a rope, quick draws, slings, and rack.

- Accommodation will be camping at the Red Rock campground. Sites cannot be reserved, but we can have up to 10 people on a single site (max 2 cars). The campground isn't near the crags, so some rental cars may be needed in addition to my car. There is a supermarket for groceries within a 10 min drive; same thing for eating-out.
