Trip Description

Early season hiking on Goat mountain in Mt. Baker national forest.

Original plan was to head to Ruth Mountain, but a number of avalanches came down this spring and the debris left behind has blocked the Hannegan pass access road about 4km from the trailhead.  The debris has not yet been removed by the national park service.  Although it may be possible to travel these most of these 4km on a bike, I am uncertain of the current road condition beyond the blockage, and so I have decided to switch destination to Goat Mountain, also in the Mt. Baker national forest.

Ice axe and/or poles recommended as much of the trail will be snow covered.
