Trip Description

This course is recommended for skiers and boarders wanting to progress to an increased competency , in evaluation of terrain, snow pack, weather and the decision making progress, involved with group travel in a winter environment.

 

The Advanced AST-2 courses is conducted using  variety of different terrain locations - typically two days off the Duffy Lake Rd, one day behind Whistler/Blackcomb and one day up the Coquihalla. Students will have exposure to a variety of snow packs, terrain and weather patterns, to enhance the learning opportunities, involved in winter decision-making and objective flexibility.

The Advance AST-2 course includes:

  • 40 hours of instruction by a CAA Level 2 Professional member
  • CAA approved curriculum for AST-2 course
  • Avalanche manual
  • Use of beacon, shovel and probe
  • CAA Industry-recognized Certificate of completion

Cost: $560 per person based on a group of 6. If more than 6 people (up to 8 max) sign up, the price per person can drop to as low as $485 per person (All these prices are HST included!).

Discount for trip leaders! Please note that if you have lead at least 2 club trips in the past 12 months and have another trip on the current (winter 2010-11) schedule, you can get a $75 discount. This is one of the ways how BCMC would like to encourage their members to continue to develop their skills.

 

Notes:

  • All courses held at locations other than Vancouver/Duffy Lake Rd/Coquihalla might have additional costs associated with travel.
  • Cost does not include transportation to/from course areas; lift access fees (if applicable); food; accomodation; or personal equipment except as noted.

Maximum number of participants is 8. For deadline for registration and payment is January 14, 2011.

Course is delivered over two weekends, February 12-13 and February 19-20 and one evening session February 7, 6:30pm to 9:30pm.
