This trip is dependent on there being clear weather. The objectives are an afternoon hike up the first summit of the Stawamus Chief, in time to seen the sunset and moonrise, and celebrate the coming winter solstice. (It's the night of the full moon.) Followed by a descent, and a bite to eat. We'll start hiking at 2:30 = leave city after lunch.
A go/no go decision will be made that morning, or earlier is possible. If the weather doesn't allow the hike on December 4th, we'll try again on January 3rd.
Needed equipment includes sturdy footwear, rain clothes/shell clothing, lots of warm clothes (we may have to stand around a while), food and drink. If it's at all snowy or icy, micro spikes and hiking poles will be needed.
Hopefully participants can carpool from the city, perhaps rendezvousing at say 1:30 at Saint David's. (I'm in Squamish.)
