The Watersprite Lake provincial recreation site is jointly managed by the BCMC and the government's "rec site and trails" branch - who are currently on strike. As such, Rec Sites and Trails staff will not be assisting the BCMC with the rec site shutdown this year. The club is looking for 2 members who can make trip to Watersprite on Sunday morning with me, with a return Monday afternoon.
The purpose of the trip is to take down a large tent and associated camping equipment (table, chairs stove, cots), and radio antenna and pack them away under the Watersprite Hut for the winter. There is also a large steel "Job Site storage box" that needs to be emptied and moved to a safe spot for winter storage. If it wasn't for the strike, this work be completed by the province, with the equipment flown out and stored at a provincial government storage facility. Accommodation for participants is in the custodian room at the Watersprite Hut. Carpooling from Vancouver. If you're not eating turkey on Sunday, and feel like doing a bit of volunteer work for the club, this is great opportunity.
