Cathedral Provincial Park was partially reopened this summer after a fire went through in 2023. With the Lodge still closed access into the core of the park is hike-in only. I'd like to visit and explore the park while it's quiet and free from the usual crowds.
------
Itinerary:
Tuesday August 26: Meet at 1 pm at my house in Coquitlam (lots of safe street parking) or I can pick you up from Lougheed Skytrain station. Drive to Cathedral Provincial Park (approx. 5 hours). Camp at Buckhorn Campground.
Wednesday August 27: Hike Lakeview Trail (14 km, 1450 m gain) to Quiniscoe Lake campground.
Thursday August 28: Explore the core of the park. Stay at Quiniscoe Lake campground.
Friday August 29: Get up early, hike to trailhead, drive home.
-------
Participants will be responsible for booking their own backcountry reservation for 2 nights at Quiniscoe Lake campground.
Additional cost will include driver compensation based on the BCMC guidelines.
Participants will need to be self-sufficient and able to carry all their own gear and meals. The group doesn't have to stay together and do the same activities during the free day in the core.
