Glacier gear is not required to do the hike in and out - but this is very challenging hiking/ scrambling with days 2, 3 and 4 almost entirely off trail.
If you want to go onto the Macbeth Glacier, or any of the other glaciers nearby, full glacier gear is required. Mountaineering routes may need rock gear.
GPS track will become available prior to departure.
The Spearhead Hut Society is operating this summer camp to raise awareness about the upcoming construction, as well as start to build up a volunteer base of folks who will be able to help construct the new hut.

The SHS society has asked that no social media posts be made about the route in. Teh camp is fine, but the route in is not something that they want to encourage other folks to do until such time as a permanent trail is approved and created.
