The weather looks a little more conducive for climbing Mt. Harvey. That said, there is still snow on the summit. Crampons and a mountaineering axe are required. This mountain is a serious objective in the early season, and has at least one section that is exposed with high consequences. It has been featured on the North Shore Rescue series at least once. So we are going to treat this very seriously.
The event starts by parking either a kilometer down the road, which is the free version, or at the trailhead, which costs money. The trail starts as an FSR (though apparantly there is a trail through the trees that places you quite high up. I'd like to investigate this). The trail then steeply climbs through the trees to the summit ridge. The bulk of this route is in the trees. The summit ridge can be very scenic on a clear day. This is where we are likely to encounter snow.
The trip will start at 8AM at the trailhead parking lot. I'm not sure where I will be over the weekend: possibly in Squamish, but I encourage a meet up at the church at 7:30AM to organize car pooling.
I can lend out a couple of mountaineering axes and one pair of mountaineering crampons.
