Two days of theory and practical practice on the essential knowledge to rig for, and travel on, glacial terrain.   Note that this does not cover the anchor building or full rescue scenarios or Haul Systems (see Anchoring - Basics/Intermediate and Rescue Basics/Intermediate and Haul Systems for those practice sessions).  

Location

• Apr 19th - Mt. Seymour (Kiosk at North end of parking lot)
• Apr 20th - Mt. Seymour (Kiosk at North end of parking lot)

*Location subject to sufficient snow on Dinky Peak to build safe snow anchors

Minimum Equipment

• Harness
• Helmet
• Suitable clothing for the weather (potentially all day in the rain)
• Anchoring material
• Non-lock biners (min 6)
• Locking biners (min 5, more recommended)
• 1 pulley (2 recommended)
• 2 prussics suitable for the rope you have
• Prussics for ascending rope
• 1 Rope (>30M length, 8.5 – 11mm diameter)

Prerequisites

• Anchoring Basics or demonstrated strong anchoring skills
• Strong knot skills (figure 8, prussik, butterfly, double fishermans, water knot)

Additional Notes:

- Event is open to guests of BCMC members who would like to experience a group practice session before joining the BCMC.  

- This is a structured group practice session with no cost for attending.   

- Park passed may be required, and this will be organized closer to the date in the Planning Forum
