First Meeting of the BCMC's new Website and IT Committee

All interested BCMC members are encouraged to attend, not just programmers and webmasters.

This committee and meeting is open to any member who is interested in participating and learning about the future development and modernization of the BCMC's websites. 
Volunteers will be needed not just for programming and website development, but also for graphic design, testing, content, functionality/features, creation of documentation, UI, and assigned tasks working with 3rd party developers.

Purpose:

1.  To review the BCMC's current Web and IT systems
2.  Decide on a future for those systems and develop a plan and path forward.
3.  Implement the committee's plan and vision

Current Websites

1. BCMC Website  (Custom)

• a) keep and maintain the current website, or
• b) build new custom website, or
• c) build new website using open source CMS (Wordpress, Joomla, Drupal, etc.) with 3rd party developer components,
• d) hire 3rd party to build new site
• e) other options?

2. BC Mountain Foundation (Joomla 3.x) - Needs to be migrated to (Joomla 5.x)
3. Backcountry BC  (Joomla 3.x) - Needs to be migrated to (Joomla 5.x) and content updates
4. BCMC Cabin and Campsite Reservation website (Joomla 3.x) - Migration to (Joomla 5.x) and will need a replacement booking system to replace defunct Jomres at some point in the future
5. BCMC Equipment Rental Website (Joomla 4x) - Up to date

IT

1. Review BCMC Email Accounts and system
2. BCMC Server
3. Security
4. Document Storage
