Info
Get together to review search procedures as well as to facilitate discussion on avalanche rescue. I will have targets buried which we can dig up. I am aware of Seymour's "Beacon Basin" at the north end of their parking lots. We likely will not use this facility since we cannot dig up these targets.
Meetup and logistics
We are meeting at the BC Parks kiosk at the far end of the parking lot. (N49.367456, W122.949216). Please click the link and look at the satellite image. People are often confused about exactly where to meet. We will be skinning or snowshoeing up to a random spot off the side of the trail where we will be spending a couple of hours.
After the actual ARS practice, we will dismiss and disperse down the ski run or trail and the trip will end.
You may opt to travel on whatever gear you feel is most appropriate for the conditions: skis, snowshoes, or boots wth microspikes.
Parking
Mount Seymour Park does not require a day-use pass for parking if you arrive after 4 PM. You do not need to secure a parking pass for this trip.
Disclosure
I am not a guide. I am a member of the Canadian Avalanche Association. This is not a course and is not a suitable replacement for AST1 or similar.
