Day of touring in winter wonderland at Mt Baker. Meet at Boundary Chevron at 5:30am, park at the backcountry lot near the ski resort, and start climbing from 1,350m, avoiding low snow coverage below treeline.
Route plan is to climb Mt Herman (650m elevation), ski down and use the same up-track for another lap, potentially on Mazama Dome (400m+ elevation).
If visibility is poor, back-up plan will be a few of the runs on Bagley Lakes...at least 3-4 yo-yo laps on the same up track. If conditions are suboptimal, or storm snow isn't feeling right, there's a Plan 'C' and 'D' in my back pocket.
This trip is for intermediate to advanced skiers only. Participants MUST be able to skin at a consistent moderate pace for 6-8 hours and ski black runs in variable snow conditions, especially powder.
Forecast is for a powder day, and trail breaking could be heavy. Strong fitness is required (and requested to help break trail). If avi conditions are right, skiing could be epic...just saying.
Obviously, passports are required. If we had a Nexus carload, that would be phenomenal for the way home. Please include whether you have Nexus in the question responses.
