Iago Peak is located in the Coquihalla Area and offers panoramic vistas of snow-capped peaks, including Yak, Needle, and Vicuna mountains. 

Hike Details

• Trail: Iago Peak trail (with the possibility of adding Ottomite Mountain if time permits).
• Duration: 5-6 hours.
• Distance: 12.1 km.
• Elevation gain: 665 m
• Difficulty: Lower moderate; suitable for those new to snowshoeing if you have hiking experience.

Meeting Details:

• Time: 7:00 am.
• Location: East Guildford Park and Ride for carpooling.
• Carpooling Fee: Recommended $30 round trip.

Trail Description:

The hike begins at the Zopkios Rest Area, accessible via the Coquihalla Highway, where parking is available. The trail follows a well-defined path shared with routes to Ottomite and Zupjok Peaks. After departing from the Zupjok Peak trail, we'll navigate through forested terrain, culminating in a gentle ascent along the northeast ridge to Iago Peak's summit.

Avalanche Conditions

AST-1 and avalanche safety gear are optional for this trip as we will stay on low-angle terrain. In addition, I'll check the Avalanche forecast on Friday night. If there's a sudden change in the avalanche forecast the day before, the trip might be canceled or switched to a different objective.
