The Beverley Creek trail provides access to Puma Peak, Beverley Lake and Rainbow Mountain from Whistler Olympic Park in the Callaghan Valley. It's a relatively gentle trail that follows that valley bottom through natural meadows and stands of yellow cedar trees. For this trip I plan to work on 2 different sections. One is a bridge reconstruction near the the start of the trail. The second section is widening a different part of the trail that is about 1km further up. The Beverley creek trail is cleared for skiing, not hiking, so this section is a light bushwhack through gentle forested terrain where the predominant underbrush is blueberry and black huckleberry bushes.
This trip is suitable for kids of add ages. Bushwhacking experience is not necessary as the mandatory bushwhacking section is very short. My own kids are 9 and 12, but you don't have to bring kids of your own to join this trip. Useful tools to bring are 2 handed garden pruners, pruning saws, pole pruning saws and chainsaws (definitely not for the kids!) Work gloves or gardening gloves are also highly recommended. I have some extra tools and gloves that I will bring along to lend out.
