Sky Pilot is a popular prominence above Squamish accessed via the Sea to Sky Gondola or an additional 2 hour hike up via Mamquam River FSR. It involves a moderate distance and elevation approach via gravel path, dry creek bed, scree, steep forest and finally alpine scrambling and snow fields. The last 500m distance takes you up steep 4th class scrambling with 2 optional rappels to descend.

Meet time is the Gondola unload (top) 930am. Current weekend price is $75. Last Gondola down is 9pm so the option of refreshments with great views after is available.

Required gear:

• Hiking shoes suitable for scrambling and snow travel
• 2L minimum water
• 10 essentials
• Adequate clothing for the forecast

Optional but recommended gear:

• Hiking poles with snow baskets
• Ice axe
• Crampons
• Gaiters
• Harness, rappel device (unless you are a strong climber comfortable in high 4th/low 5th downclimbs)
• Helmet

I will bring a 30m rope for the optional rappels.

Weather dependent, can do a day hike from the gondola if weather is poor. This will be a moderate paced hike.

Car pooling from St Davids is available if riding the gondola (or self-arrange if hiking)
