Trip Description

After some consideration, and conversations with likeminded friends, I decided to change this trip to SEWS. I haven't done this route, but it is very highly acclaimed, and looks like a great day trip.

Depending on who you ask, this route is considered a 5.5 with mostly 4th class scrambling. It is a classic of the Liberty Bell Group in Washington Pass, and great for anyone starting out in alpine rock.

My preference  for participants will go to interested parties who are self sufficient and can lead themselves up one of these routes. I would like my partner to share the lead with me. I am opening the trip up to a second party, which will naturally also require a leader. If you are not interested in leading, feel free to sign up, but you might be disappointed. I am still researching the nuances of this trip, and hope for a team that will contribute to the logistics.

I walk and climb at a moderate speed, so this isn't a trip for FKA record breakers. I don't know what my GG time is. Probably over an hour. Unencumbered. So, if you too are of reasonable fitness, but are comfortable walking at a casual speed, with the opportunity to stop and enjoy the view, absorb the history of the route and the area, swap hilarious stories of epic failures, then this is the trip for you.

You at the very least have experience in outdoor rock climbing, rappeling, lead belaying and removing trad gear. This shouldn't be your very first scramble or rock climb: there is some heady exposure and difficult terrain to move through. At best, you can lead multipitch trad, and are comfortable building gear anchors. We will have a forum discussion on gear to bring and objectives to try, so this will hopefully present as a friendly and forgiving first time alpine rock leader trip.

Meeting time will be discussed in the forum. I will likely camp in the area to get a good head start on the route.

Must brings:

Usual essentials (don't forget your headlight!)

Harness, helmet, PAS, locker

Lots of water
