***Please note the early departure time: 5.30AM***
This is the first big warm weekend of the spring, so I expect lots of avi activity, but our ridge route avoids all the avi terrain, hence we would come back the same way as we go up.
A classic trip in the Callaghan Valley area: the views from the ridge are mind blowing and is almost guarantee to be the only ones around there:)
The long term forecast calls for a warm day, so be prepared for it in terms of trailbreaking in heavy snow:)
There is about 14KM(return) of groomed cross-country trail that we need to use, so about 50% of the total distance will be easily traveled: still it is a big day(8-10h), don't underestimate it!
Please be considerate and do NOT sign up unless you are 100% committed for the trip and you are at least an intermediate skier(can do black runs in any conditions, including trees and have done at least 10 trips in the past 2 years) in the Backcountry. Most likely based on the long-term forecast, some trailbraking will be required by everyone in the group- no exceptions. If in doubt about your capabilities send me a message and we can talk about it:)
Will be moving at a moderate-fast pace. Not for slow people, sorry.
