This cold spell of weather and recent snowfall got the steep ski senses tingling...
The trip is entirely weather dependant and just based on the current forecast of stable (cold) temps and low snowfall. Monday is looking to warm up significantly so if that comes closer to the weekend we will adjust. Other options would include Matier, Vantage or simply a few laps on Motel 66 and head out early.
Given the low-snowfall and poor glacier coverage this year I'll require everyone to have a crevasse rescue course (or similar), be completely confident leading a group through bad vis on a potentially open glacier and generally have a good sense of the terrain since this is not a guided trip and we may rotate party leaders on the gl.
For the couloir itself, it tops out above 45 degrees near the summit, so bear that in mind when deciding on whether or not to come :)
When it comes to these trips, I don't push it... If we start ascending the couloir and it gets spooky we turn around, all good, no pressure.
We can leave Vancouver on Saturday at midday and walk in to the hut in the evening (it's about a 1.5h approach).
Pace on the trip will be moderate-fast, so please make sure you're fit enough and have plenty of experience with your gear.
Will discuss details in the planning forum but full glacier travel kit and spiky tools are required, plus overnight sleeping stuff.
