Three-day Thanksgiving trip, Saturday morning to Monday evening (preferably car camping Friday night). Returning to the Squamish Headwaters to try low route to the Pemberton Icefield. Meet at St David's Church 730am. Drive from Squamish all the way up Squamish River (note: this is NOT in Pemberton!). First two km is previously cleared logging road. From there into the old growth forest. Traverse NW at roughly 800m until reaching creek canyon beyond Little Ring Peak ridge. Cross creek and climb open ridge to 1200m. Open terrain from there to icefield. Camp at foot of icefield (scenic river and waterfalls), or climb 200m into subalpine hills with pools and views of icefield.
Sunday: Venture onto icefield with microspikes to visit ice caves, and maybe cross tongue of glacier to explore terrain to the west. Return and camp in scenic alpine hills with lakes at foot of icefield.
Monday: Hike back around east side of Little Ring Peak (volcanic plug) and back down old trail to vehicle/s. Return to Vancouver Monday evening.
