Three-day trip, Saturday morning to Monday evening. Returning to the Squamish Headwaters to mark out final section of trail to the Pemberton Icefield. Meet at St David's Church 730am. Drive from Squamish all the way up Squamish River (note: this is NOT in Pemberton!). First two km is previously cleared logging road. From there into the old growth forest. Trail previously marked from 900m up to 1300m ridgeline. Plan to set up camp near top of this ridge, and figure out best route for about 1km down to the open alpine area before the icefield.
Sunday: head along scenic river with waterfalls to the edge of the icefield. Perhaps explore along edge of icefield in search of ice caves. Camp in scenic alpine hills with lakes at foot of icefield.
Monday: Hike back around east side of Little Ring Peak (volcanic plug) and back down old trail to vehicle/s. Return to Vancouver Monday evening.
