Trip Description

This trip is only open to BCMC Mentorship Program participants. Preference will be given to mentees of the organizer (mentor). The organizer can open this trip to other mentees/mentors if needed.

General Trip Plan: We'll climb some easy multi -pitch routes (5.6-5.9) on the Chief, depending on the weather forecast. The goal will be to avoid too much direct sun and heat. We will review and practise to review current multi-pitch trad climbing skills like building gear anchors, efficiently swapping leads, etc.

All Participants should be able to trad lead-belay.

After climbing, in case the Hwy traffic looks bad, we might consider getting some food in Squamish if everybody in the group was up for it.

Gear Requirements: All participants must bring their own personal climbing gear... including: Trad rack, nut tool, 60+m rope, harness, belay device, locking biner, climbing shoes, head lamp and helmet (no helmet = no climbing). Also highly recommended is a prussic for rappelling, a PAS (personal anchor system) for securing yourself, plenty of water, sunscreen, insect repellant and energy snacks.

Where/When to Meet: Let's meet at 6:00am location TBD in Metro Vancouver for car pooling or in Squamish (planning forum or WhatsApp group).

Emergency Contact Info: Please make sure your Emergency Contact info has been added to your web-account profile.  You can do this by logging into the bcmc.ca website, click on: My Account (top of page)... then click on Edit Emergency Contact (top-left column).  Please re-enter your password to complete the process.  Your emergency contact info is stored *privately* and only made available to those organizing trips *you* choose to attend.

Potential Medical Issues: Any info that should be shared with the organizer(s), please send an email and/or phone ASAP.  For example, if you are very allergic to bee/wasp bites, or you are taking medication that could be vital information to First Aid Responders. Anything you choose to share with me will remain private.

Cancellation due to Weather: If PoP for Squamish on Environment Canada's website (https://weather.gc.ca/city/pages/bc-50_metric_e.html) remains above 50% for the day, the trip might be cancelled. Final decision will be made in the morning of the event.
