The guidebook says Crest Creek is Vancouver Island's coolest climbing area, and it's true. Crest Creek has been lovingly and meticulously crafted by local volunteers. There is a mix of sport, trad, and top rope routes available, some short multipitches.
The plan is to set up camp on Friday night, climb on Saturday, Sunday, and part of Monday, then get back on Monday night. We have a camping spot reserved at Buttle Lake. There are potable water pumps and outhouses.
The weather forecasts in the area are not too reliable. It rained some of the time the last two times we did this trip, but the basalt rock in the area is grippy and dries quickly, so we still went climbing. There are also good hiking options, so we can still go if the forecast does not look too dire.
I am sure we can learn a lot from each other, but this is not intended as an introduction to climbing. You need to at least be a safe belayer. Let's have a fun and safe weekend!
