We will fly into the Pebble Creek Hut and put in an airdrop at the North Creek Hut so that you won't have to carry food, fuel or tents while exploring the surrounding peaks, meadows, and glaciers in the area. This is a great way to get out into the backcountry without the heavy pack. We will be in an area that has few trails and will be walking on glaciers, scree slopes, meadows, and forests without trails. Participants will need to have a climbing harness, ice axe and crampons and know how to use them. You should be in reasonably good shape (able to do the Grind in about an hour or less) and be used to carrying a pack for an eight-hour day. We will try to get in a practice day before the trip. While this is not meant to be a mountaineering course, we will review the basic skills before setting off for the peaks. Sturdy hiking boots are a necessity. Possible peaks include Pebble Peak, FASP, Thiassi, and Ethelweard from the Pebble Hut and Sugas, Sessel and Delilah from the North Creek hut. Most peaks are straightforward scrambles but those looking for more of a challenge can find that on Thiassi, Delilah or even Sampson. Both cabins are outfitted with mattresses and cooking gear. Dinners and breakfasts will be cooked communally. The helicopter access and food drop will cost about $500 each (depending on the weather and the number of participants) Accommodation in the cabins is $20 per night. For those willing to put a bit of time into trail clearing, all or part of the cabin fee can be refunded. The focus of the trip is to climb local peaks and hang out at the cabin, however, the trails always need work, so help in that regard is much appreciated. We will depart from the North Creek trailhead which is located about 8 km up the North Creek FSR, which starts about km 16 on the Lillooet FSR, on the Eastern side (right looking up) of the creek.
