Parking is at the Whistler Olympic Park, which has a gate that opens at 9am and closes at 4:30. Access tickets are by car so hopefully we can all carpool together. The route is about 15km and 900m vertical and starts in a well-trodden icey forest (although hopefully recent snowfall has helped) On the way up the plan is to assess conditions carefully (and timing) and choose our route up from Hanging Lake carefully. This trip is not for complete beginners due to the time constraint, but the pace will be reasonably steady. Ideally everyone will contribute to discussion re. Navigation, route selection, snow observations, and which line to ski (there are a couple options) Everyone needs to bring their beacon, probe, and shovel, pack with 10 essentials, and adequate food, water, and snacks for the day. Hopefully ski crampons will not be necessary but it's a good idea to have them.
